My Story

Meet Dr. Tan

Ph. D; MD (China); Lic. Ac

“I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: ...…

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art. Be respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.” The Hippocratic Oath has been echoing around me since 2000.

I still remember as a senior in high school, when my beloved grandma left us due to stomach cancer. My grandpa passed away 6 months later, due to missing my grandma so much. The whole family was helpless and sad. No one was a doctor or had any knowledge how to help. That's when I decided I wanted to be the first medical doctor in my family, so I can help my family and other families, prevent a tragedy from happening. I made an oath to myself saying, “I will help people avoid pain and disease, while healing as much pain and sickness as I can”.

I have been dedicated to the health and well-being of others since I got my M.D.(China) in 2000. I earned my PhD in the field of Acupuncture & Tuina Science from the one of most prestigious Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) University in China. Furthermore, I practiced as an attending physician and assistant professor in the one of the highest rated research institution and clinic in China from 2006 to 2012. I have published more than 20 academic articles, 2 monographs, been awarded over 10 scientific projects, and I hold one patent. While practicing, I treated a minimum of 40 patients each day.

In 2012, I moved from Shanghai to Texas to continue teaching and practicing as a professional acupuncturist. I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and to grow both spiritually and in character. This has been a great opportunity to expand my horizons as a person and as a provider of health and well-being. I am so excited to be able to apply my knowledge and experience to benefit the community!
